MILITARY EXPERENCE:
32 years Active and Reserve duty.
Brigade Commander: Activated, secured facilities, recruited, staffed, and trained a Brigade with subordinate units in multiple locations.
Division Chief of Staff: Supervision and coordination for the contracting, construction oversight, staffing, and personnel training for a Battle Simulation Center. Provided direction and guidance to the Division Staff and advice to four brigade commanders.
Division Operations Officer (G3): Developed training methodologies that significantly improved Lanes training. Authored a manual for soldiersreflecting combat lessons learned to enhance training realism.
Project Coordinator: Directed Army component of a joint effort with Stanford Research Institute to develop biological detection equipment for deployment to the Persian Gulf. Team Leader, NTC Observer Controller: Qualified and supervised the first USAR observer controller team at the Army’s National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California.
Special Forces Battalion Commander: Supervised, and/or participated annually in over a dozen national and international training exercises and operations. Directed my Special Forces unit response to rescue survivors from a Canadian aircraft crash in temperatures of 60 degrees below zero.
Special Forces Service Company Commander: Deployed this unit in support of both South Atlantic and Pacific exercises and operations. Received the Army’s “Best Aviation Unit” award with the unit’s organic aviation platoon.
Recruiting Management Officer, assigned to HQ USAREC, Ft Sheridan, IL Contracted and supervised a team of university professors and military personnel specializing in behavioral technology, curriculum design, video and audio presentation methodologies.
Defense Race Relations Institute Patrick AFB, FL: Lived and worked in squalor at a migrant farm camp as part of the live environment training.
Basic Training Company Commander: Company C, 1st Battalion, 1st Brigade, Ft Ord, CA Consistently met or exceeded the performance of all basic training units in the Army. Invited to the Pentagon to personally brief the Army Chief of Staff on training methods that achieved these exceptional results.
District Senior Advisor: DienKhanh District, II Corps RVN Responsible for developing and influencing military combat operations, political, economic, agricultural, construction, health, and educational programs ina Vietnamese District consisting of513km, 14 villages and 34 hamlets. U.S. assets included Special Forces teamA502, two mobile advisory teams, and a district intelligence team. In addition to multiple levels of Vietnamese military units, I also advised a Korean battalion from the ROK White Horse Division.
Mobile Advisory Team Leader:MACCORDS II Corps, Republic of Vietnam. Trained and led three Vietnamese Regional Force Companies and eight Popular Forces units on combat operations.
Mechanized Infantry Company Commander: Company A, 2nd Battalion, 36th Infantry, 1st Brigade, 3rd Armor Division, Participated in training and exercises in the Fulda Gap, Wildfliken, Hoenfels, and Grafenwöhr Germany.
Mechanized Infantry Platoon Leader. Led the U.S. contingent during NATOcompetition in Holland.
Eighth Army Security Plans & Operations: On special assignment assisted U.S. Secret Service in conducting translations and establishing security prior to and during Presidential visit to Korea.
